Admission Process

 

Application requirements:
Applicants should have completed a Bachelor 's Degree or equivalent in the area of agricultural or related (Biological Sciences, Forestry, Chemistry) science.

In the case of foreign students, preference is given to applicants who demonstrate a minimum period of one year of contractual relationship with the home institution.

Required Documents:

  1. Letter of intent to apply to the University of Talca’s Doctoral program.
  2. Updated resume.
  3. Copy of most recent university degree certificate.
  4. Copy of grades for all previous university coursework
  5. Three supporting letters from persons familiar with your academic background and/or research experience.
  6. Medical certificate.

Selection Process:
Applicants who meet the above requirements will be asked to both have a personal interview with the Academic Program Committee and undergo an Entrance Examination. This examination includes general questions in the area of agricultural science and tests whether applicants are able to formulate a cogent set of objectives and hypotheses for a hypothetical research project that would allow the research to solve the problem and includes an analysis of the data that can be included in a peer-reviewed scientific paper.

The selection process is conducted once a year at the end of October. However, students can choose to begin their program at the start of any of the quarters (March, July and October). This structure has been designed to provide the student greater with flexibility in planning their program and since there are no prerequisites for any of the required coursework.
