Mi interés de investigación es en varios aspectos de la ecofisiología de cultivos para comprender el potencial de rendimiento y la tolerancia al estrés abiótico. Realizamos estudios de fenómica (caracterización fenotípica) y genómica (caracterización molecular) para identificar genotipos de élite con mayor tolerancia a déficit hídrico, que se pueden incorporar en los programas de mejoramiento. También participo en estudios de ecología de pastizales (diversidad y productividad) con relación a las condiciones medio ambientales y de manejo. Dirijo el Centro de Mejoramiento Genético y Fenómica Vegetal, de la Facultad de Ciencias Agrarias, y pertenezco al grupo de investigación de Ecología de Sistemas Silvopastoriles del Departamento de Ecología de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, España.
